On October 12, we will be hosting the Burn Series Adventure Racing Festival, featuring two exciting events: the Mini Burn Family Adventure Race and the Burn 6-Hour Race.
The latter is a rigorous test of endurance, designed for experienced adventure racers and dedicated athletes. This challenging 6-hour race involves approximately 2000 meters of climbing in total, spread across running and biking.
The race format is outlined in the Burn 6 Hour Schematic below.
The race begins with a running phase that includes around 14 checkpoints. Participants will be free to choose their route, which will influence the distance travelled. While we expect a few competitors to reach all checkpoints, most will likely collect a subset. For the best enjoyment of this phase, we recommend spending no more than 1 hour and 45 minutes running.
After the run, competitors will complete a brief kayaking phase across a small lake at Margam Park.
Following the kayak, you'll transition to the biking phase, which features approximately 18 checkpoints. This phase also allows for free route choice and involves significant climbing, offering a variety of route options. For a fulfilling experience, we suggest allowing up to 4 hours for the biking phase. Full details of the biking phase, including checkpoint locations and strategic advice, will be provided during the briefing by our Course Planner, Andrew Woodhouse. As with the run phase, we anticipate that only a few participants will manage to collect all the checkpoints on the bike course.
Prepare yourself for an awesome adventure across unbelievably beautiful terrain in South Wales, that will challenge your endurance and strategic thinking!
