Further Race Information

DISTANCE & PHASES  3 km run, 1 km kayak, 12 km mountain bike, & 2 km foot navigation phase. There will be some special challenges along the way.

TIMING & RESULTS  If you’d like to race competitively, you will be given a timing device to record your time. This is optional for those who would rather not race. Results will be based on those completing the full course first and then based on time second. This means it’s worth aiming to get around the whole course, even if it takes a little longer. There is no time limit.

FOOT PHASE A flat run along well-marked trails.

CYCLING PHASE The cycling is on a combination of terrain such as grass, track, road, single trail & stoney tracks. The long course is hilly and the most technical of our Mini Burn race. There will be a short course option of approximately 5km which also avoids the big hill climb. The whole course is well signposted. HELMETS MUST BE WORN. If you don’t own a bike, you must borrow one from a friend or hire one from one of our cycle partners. Details below.

KAYAKING PHASE The kayaking will be around 4 buoys in the lake. There will be plenty of water safety and we will be offering support and instruction if required. All kayaks and kayaking equipment are provided. You will get a wet bottom in the kayaks so you may wish to bring some waterproof trousers or a change of trousers for after the kayak.

FOOT NAVIGATION PHASE Once you've completed the mountain bike phase you will be given a map featuring five checkpoints. All you need to do is find them! The navigation will be simple.
